Spurred by the death of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., third-grade teacher Jane Elliott wanted a way to teach her Iowa schoolchildren racism. Her blue-eyed/brown-eyed experiment was documented by an ABC-TV crew. The resulting documentary, The Eye of The Storm created a sensation and sparked discussion and thoughtful examination of prejudice…a dynamic conversation that is still going on more than 40 years later.
Eight DVDs have been produced, with Jane Elliott running the blue-eyed exercise with different populations and come with facilitator guides that allow trainers to guide conversation in meaningful ways.
